Network Captures Made-For-TV Movie Emmy(r) For Sixth Straight Year

HBO received 14 Primetime Emmy Awards(r) in the 50th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards(r) competition, the most of any cable network, and more than CBS (which received 8) and FOX (which received 6). The awards received by the network this year reflected the diversity of HBO's original programming, ranging from family specials to comedy to original movies, with HBO capturing the made-for-TV movie Emmy(r) for the sixth year in a row, for "Don King: Only in America" (following "Miss Evers' Boys" in 1997, "Truman" in 1996, "Indictment: The McMartin Trial" in 1995, "And the Band Played On" in 1994, and "Stalin" and "Barbarians at the Gate," which tied in 1993), and capturing the miniseries Emmy(r) for "From the Earth to the Moon."
