Mara Sternthal has been named Vice President, International Television Planning & Development, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution (WBITD), it was announced today by Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television.
In the newly created position, Sternthal will be responsible for evaluating equity investments and strategic alliances in international free and pay television markets. In addition, she will work with the Warner Bros. International Television sales offices worldwide in assisting the salespeople on various special projects. Based in Burbank, Sternthal reports to Malcolm Dudley-Smith, Senior Vice President, Pay-TV & Business Development, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.
"Mara's vast knowledge of international television finance, sales and acquisitions will make her an integral member of our business development team as we continue to look for and evaluate strategic investments worldwide," said Dudley-Smith.
Sternthal joins WBITD from Sony Pictures Entertainment where, as Vice President, Corporate Development, she evaluated potential international and domestic acquisitions from both strategic and financial perspectives. Prior to that, she served from 1993-1997 as Director, Film Programming in acquisitions for Home Box Office (HBO). Before that, she worked for four years at ABC as Director, International TV Sales. She began her career at Irving Trust Company, an international banking firm.
Sternthal received her master's degree in business and public policy from the University of Michigan, where she concentrated on international economic policy.
