The hit comedy series THE CHRIS ROCK SHOW continues its third season of 13 editions with a new show on FRIDAY, SEPT. 4 (11:30 p.m.- midnight ET), followed by other shows on subsequent Fridays -- including SEPT. 11 and 18 -- at the same time, exclusively on HBO. Starring the red-hot Emmy(r)-winning comic in a high-energy blend of comedy, music and talk, the Friday late-night show is presented from New York and features guests from entertainment, politics and other fields.
Other playdates: Sept. 4 show, Sept. 6 (12:30 a.m.) and 9 (11:30 p.m.); Sept. 11 show, Sept. 13 (12:30 a.m.) and 16 (11:00 p.m.); Sept. 18 show, Sept. 20 (11:40 p.m.) and 23 (11:00 p.m.).
Taped before a live audience, each edition of THE CHRIS ROCK SHOW opens with a monologue by Rock, followed by interviews, live and pre-taped comedy segments, and a performance by a hot music star. The show has been nominated for an Emmy(r) for Outstanding Writing for a Variety or Music Program.
Previous guests on THE CHRIS ROCK SHOW have included Erykah Badu, George Carlin, Sean "Puffy" Combs, Whoopi Goldberg, Bryant Gumbel, Arsenio Hall, Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, LL Cool J, Conan O'Brien, Reverend Al Sharpton and The Honorable J.C. Watts, Jr.
The new season is part of an exclusive multi-year TV deal that also covers two stand-up specials, with other projects to be announced as they are confirmed. Rock's TV appearances will be exclusively on HBO during the term of the agreement; in addition, the network will also have exclusive TV rights to his activities as a producer and writer.
Chris Rock, who is an executive producer of the upcoming comedy series "The Hughleys," made his TV debut in 1987 on the HBO special "Uptown Comedy Express." His subsequent credits include stints on "Saturday Night Live" and "In Living Color," as well as his CableACE-winning "HBO Comedy Half-Hour: Chris Rock: Big Ass Jokes," and appearances on Comedy Central's "Politically Incorrect."
Rock's 1996 HBO special "Chris Rock: Bring the Pain" received two Emmys,(r) for Variety, Music or Comedy Special and Writing for a Variety or Music Program. His comedy album "Roll with the New" received a Grammy Award earlier this year. Rock is also the author of the book "Rock This!," which appeared on The New York Times' best-seller list.
Rock's movies include the recent hits "Dr. Doolittle" and "Lethal Weapon 4," as well as "CB4," "Boomerang" and "New Jack City."
