DULLES, VA and NEW YORK, NY -- April 22, 1998 - AOL Europe, the European AOL Internet online services joint venture between America Online, Inc. [NYSE: AOL], the world's leading Internet online services company, and Bertelsmann AG, the third largest media company worldwide with close to 60,000 employees in more than 50 countries, and N2K Inc. (NASDAQ: NTKI), the leading online music entertainment company, today announced an agreement under which N2K's Music Boulevard will be the exclusive music partner for the AOL services offered in Europe. This deal further expands Music Boulevard's relationship with AOL; as announced in September 1997, N2K's Music Boulevard is the exclusive music retailer in AOL's MusicSpace and in applicable areas of AOL.COM, AOL's Website and the number one consumer site on the World Wide Web. In addition, N2K's Music Boulevard has been a partner of the AOL Japan service since June 1997. The agreement extends Music Boulevard's reach and will provide the complete range of Music Boulevard services to AOL users around the world. N2K's Music Boulevard, AOL keyword: MB (www.musicblvd.com), the online music superstore, will become the exclusive music retailer for the AOL Europe proprietary online service as well as Web-based services including the relevant home pages in the United Kingdom, Germany and France. Under the agreement, N2K and the AOL services in Europe will create co-branded versions of the local-language Music Boulevard online music superstore, which will be integrated into the local services and available to AOL members in Europe and Web users visiting the relevant home pages. For example, members of the AOL France service will have access to the French version of the co-branded store, and Web users in France can visit www.aol.fr. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
