America Online Licenses Inktomi Network Caching Software

Dulles, VA and San Mateo, CA, April 15, 1998 - AOL Interactive Services, the Internet online services division of America Online, Inc. [NYSE: AOL] and Inktomi (tm) Corporation today announced that AOL has licensed Inktomi's Traffic Server (tm) network cache software. AOL plans to use this software as part of its Web service.

Inktomi's Traffic Server network cache makes efficient utilization of the hardware resources across a network, enabling global Internet providers to greatly lower their network build-out costs and significantly increase online performance for end users. In addition, Inktomi's product allows for easier management of network resources and supports advanced networking protocols used on the Internet.
