April 14, 1998

CNNewsstand Franchise Set to Bow Sunday, June 7, on CNN/U.S.

CNN's Willow Bay will co-anchor the new Wednesday night television newsmagazine CNNewsstand: Fortune, with Stephen Frazier, it was announced today by Richard Kaplan, president, CNN/U.S. As previously announced, Bay also will co-anchor CNNewsstand: Entertainment Weekly, with Judd Rose, on Thursday nights.

Launching Sunday, June 7, 1998, CNNewsstand, a weekly television newsmagazine series teaming the world's television news leader with three of Time Inc.'s most respected and widely read magazines, will be comprised of: CNNewsstand: TIME on Sundays and Mondays, co-anchored by Jeff Greenfield and Bernard Shaw; CNNewsstand: Fortune on Wednesdays, co-anchored by Willow Bay and Stephen Frazier; and CNNewsstand: Entertainment Weekly on Thursdays, co-anchored by Willow Bay and Judd Rose. All programs will air on CNN/U.S. from 10-11 p.m. (ET) and at 10 p.m. for the West Coast.

"Willow's wide-ranging journalistic experience in both news and features reporting and her interest in the fascinating behind-the-scenes world of high finance have helped shape CNNewsstand: Fortune," said Kaplan. "We originally planned to team CNN with both Fortune and Money for a single program, but the wealth of story possibilities inherent in Fortune alone has prompted us to refocus the Wednesday CNNewsstand hour around Fortune. Money also brings unique opportunities to CNN, and we're continuing to work with the magazine in a variety of ways, including airing Money segments and reports across the network's schedule."

Before Bay joined CNN in January 1998, she served as co-anchor of ABC News' Good Morning America/Sunday for three years and also reported on parenting and family issues for ABC's World News Saturday and World News Sunday. She continues to co-host NBA Inside Stuff, the National Basketball Association's weekly magazine show. Bay graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in literature and earned a master's degree from New York University's Stern School of Business.

CNNewsstand: Fortune teams the world's television news leader with Fortune each week for an hour of insight into the world of high finance, from the corporate perspective to the consumers'. Delving behind-the-scenes and into the minds of some of the world's most compelling money-makers, CNNewsstand: Fortune tells the stories of the business deals and decisions affecting people's lives.
