The glamour and excitement of Hollywood comes to Jeddah when the flagship Warner Bros. Studio Store opens its doors at Hera's International Market on Jan. 14.
The joint announcement was made Tuesday by Peter Starrett, president, Warner Bros. Studio Stores, and Dr. Musallam A. Musallam, president and chief executive officer, SKAB International Entertainment Co.
Located in the prime shopping district, Saudi Arabia's first Warner Bros. Studio Store willfeature interactive elements, an animation gallery and a wide selection of merchandise inspired by the movie-making magic of Warner Bros. Studio Stores and its legendary Looney Tunes characters.
Starrett said: "We are very excited about Warner Bros. Studio Stores opening in Saudi Arabia. The Jeddah Studio Store is situated in a terrific location, and will be a wonderful addition to the other Warner Bros. Studio Stores throughout the world."
The theme of the Jeddah Studio Store design will be "Looney Tunes at the Beach." The exterior of the store features a tower entry depicting a large aquarium with Looney Tunes characters under the sea and a movie film canister above.
Bugs Bunny, with his surfboard, and Daffy Duck, tangled in his swim gear, stand ready to greet shoppers at the store's entry. Throughout the store's interior shoppers will find various murals and 3-D figures featuring such Looney Tunes favorites as Sylvester, Tweety, Taz and Marvin the Martian, as well as Hanna Barbera characters like Scooby Doo and Tom & Jerry.
Warner Bros. Studio Stores represent a completely new and exciting retailing concept capturing the magic of movies, television and animated films, and making it accessible to an international audience of shoppers.
A state-of-the-art video wall combines high-resolution images and surround-sound audio to display a continuous program of Warner Bros. feature film trailers, clips from classic movies, Looney Tunes cartoon clips and music videos from Warner Music's top performers.
Prominently featured among the more than 1,500 products, designed to appeal to adults and children alike, is a collection of exclusive clothing, jewelry, accessories and memorabilia devoted to the enduring animated characters of Warner Bros. Looney Tunes -- including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester and Tweety.
Warner Bros. Studio Stores establishes store locations outside the United States through an agreement with a single premier operating partner in each country. The success of the Warner Bros. Studio Stores retail concept is evidenced by its rapid global expansion, beginning with the first four stores, opened in Los Angeles in 1991, to the 183 stores in operation at the end of 1997.
