BURBANK, CA — The WB is holding open auditions in six major U.S. cities beginning June 9 in a talent search to find men and women between the ages of 18-25 who can sing, dance and handle the pressures of instant pop-stardom for POPSTARS 2. This new incarnation of POPSTARS, the series which set ratings records for The WB and spawned the top-selling music group Eden's Crush, will debut on The WB this fall on Thursdays at 8:00-8:30 p.m. ET.

Like the original POPSTARS that debuted on The WB in January, the entire process will be filmed for the series, with cameras going behind the scenes to follow participants' every step of the way as they climb from obscurity to celebrity. Contestants will be judged through a rigorous audition process and once they make the cut, the chosen popstars will immediately begin working as a professional group, recording their first CD, shooting a music video and preparing for their first concert appearance in front of their fans.

Out of the thousands of hopefuls who turned up for the auditions for POPSTARS last summer, five talented young women were chosen and became the music sensation Eden's Crush. Their debut album Popstars shipped gold earlier this month, and "Get Over Yourself" marked the biggest-selling debut single ever for a new female group. Like the music group, the POPSTARS series also was an overnight sensation, garnering record-breaking ratings for The WB.

The debut album of the group formed in POPSTARS 2 is scheduled for release on London-Sire Records in association with David Foster's 143 Records, both Warner Music Group companies. London-Sire's current roster includes Eden's Crush, All Saints, Pet Shop Boys, Mandy Barnett, Guster and Morcheeba. 143 Records (in association with Lava/Atlantic) is home to the multi-platinum Irish rock band The Corrs, Beth Hart and plus ONE. Direct Management Group, Inc. will be directly involved with the formation, development and marketing of the group.

POPSTARS 2 is a Stone Stanley Entertainment Production in association with The WB Television Network. The executive producers are Scott A. Stone and David G. Stanley.
