
Victor Neufeld, executive producer of the CBS Early Show and former senior executive producer for ABC newsmagazines including 20/20 and PrimeTime Thursday, and David Doss, former executive producer of ABC’s PrimeTime Thursday, are joining CNN to run two of the network’s key prime-time programs, it was announced today by Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S.
Doss takes over senior executive producing duties for Anderson Cooper 360° while Neufeld becomes senior executive producer of Paula Zahn Now. They will join CNN in mid-June. Mark Nelson, the current senior executive producer for Paula Zahn Now, becomes senior executive producer for editorial content, reporting directly to Klein.

They are renowned television journalists and proven winners who will bring a strong reporting and storytelling sensibility to CNN,” Klein said. “Victor took 20/20 to new heights of excellence and kept it there, and David’s drive and news instincts revived the fortunes of both NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw and PrimeTime Live.”
Doss comes to Anderson Cooper 360° after serving for four years as executive producer of PrimeTime Thursday with Diane Sawyer and Charles Gibson. Before joining ABC, Doss worked for five years as executive producer for NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw. During that time, Doss revamped the third-rated evening news program, which moved to No. 1 in the ratings. Previously, Doss spent 14 years at ABC News in a variety of producing roles, including work for PrimeTime Live and the network’s Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., bureaus. His awards include nine national news Emmys, a national sports Emmy, a Peabody, a DuPont, a Polk and numerous other awards. Doss began his broadcasting career as a reporter, anchor and editor at KOTI-TV in Klamath Falls, Ore., in 1978. He earned a bachelor’s degree in literature and political science from Claremont McKenna College and master’s in journalism from the University of Southern California.
Neufeld comes to Paula Zahn Now from the CBS Early Show, where he was executive producer since 2003. Prior to that, Neufeld served as senior executive producer of ABC’s top newsmagazines 20/20 and PrimeTime Thursday from 2000 to 2003. Neufeld was executive producer of 20/20 from 1987 to 2000 and senior producer of the program from 1979 to 1987. Under his leadership, the newsmagazine garnered hundreds of awards, including 50 Emmys and several DuPonts and Peabody awards. He joined ABC News as a producer for The Weekend Report in 1973 and has held a variety of positions since then, including senior producer of ABC Evening News.
Earlier in his career, Neufeld was an assignment editor and producer at WNEW-TV in New York from 1969 to 1973. Neufeld earned a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and a master’s degree in broadcasting from Brooklyn College.
Nelson joined CNN in 2004 as executive producer of Paula Zahn Now after serving as vice president and executive producer at the National Geographic Channel. Before joining the National Geographic Channel in 2000, Nelson spent 11 years as the senior broadcast producer for ABC’s Nightline. At the same time, Nelson served as a senior producer for special events programming including broadcasts of political conventions in 1996 and 2000. Nelson joined ABC News in 1982 as a producer and has served as chief of the network’s bureaus in Tel Aviv, Rome and the western United States. Nelson started his career in 1976 in Des Moines, Iowa, as senior producer and director of Iowa Public Television.
Anderson Cooper 360° airs on CNN/U.S. each weekday from 7-8 p.m. (ET). Paula Zahn Now airs on CNN/U.S. from 8 to 9 p.m. weekdays (ET).
