Nancy Grace, one of TV’s most experienced and passionate legal analysts, will host Nancy Grace, an hour-long nightly talk show on CNN Headline News, it was announced today by CNN News Group Executive Vice President Ken Jautz. The program will air from 8–9 p.m. (ET), as part of the network's new prime-time block, Headline Prime.
Grace will challenge guests on the most controversial and high-profile legal issues of the day by drawing on her unique perspective as a former violent crimes prosecutor and as a crime victim herself. Cutting through the jargon, Nancy Grace will provide viewers with a clear understanding of not only the top trials, but also the cases often overlooked. The show will explore legal issues like guilt and innocence, the death penalty and rape shield laws as they unfold in courtrooms across the country every day. Giving viewers an up-close and more personal look, Grace will interview inmates, jurors, victims and others with compelling stories to share as well as take viewer calls during the hour.
“There is no one more knowledgeable and passionate about legal issues than Nancy,” Jautz said. Whether you agree or disagree with her, you'll want to watch her.”
Grace said, “We don’t believe in talking heads, legal mumbo-jumbo or sugar-coating what goes down in America’s courtrooms. This is no script, no made-for-TV drama, it’s the real thing real people with real stories.”
In addition to her new role with CNN Headline News, Grace also anchors live daily trial coverage on Court TV’s Closing Arguments, weekdays from 3-5 p.m. She also appears regularly as a guest on CNN’s Larry King Live. Over the last decade, Grace has covered a wide range of landmark legal cases from Scott Peterson to Martha Stewart to Kobe Bryant. Grace has utilized her vast reserve of legal expertise by serving as a TV commentator on NBC’s Weekend Today, ABC's The View, The Oprah Winfrey Show and numerous other cable and network programs. Her radio show, Rapid Fire with Nancy Grace, premiered in February 2004 on Clear Channel. Her first book, Objection!, is slated for publication with Hyperion in April 2005.
Grace joined Court TV from the Atlanta Fulton County District Attorney's Office where she served for a decade as a special prosecutor of cases involving serial murder, rape, child molestation and arson. The 1982 random murder of her fiancé inspired her to become a prosecutor.
