Dave Matthews Band to Electrify AOL(r) for Broadband with Live Broadcast of Central Park Concert Fans on Narrowband and the Web Can Also Access Live Audio, Behind-the-Scenes Photos, Galleries and Interviews New York, September 23, 2003 - While 70,000 Dave Matthews Band fans will need a ticket to enjoy the band's concert on Central Park's Great Lawn on Wednesday, September 24, tens of thousands more can enjoy the "AOL(r) Concert for Schools" from the comfort of home with AOL? for Broadband. AOL for Broadband members will have VIP access to a live video broadcast of the September 24 "Dave Matthews Band in Central Park - The AOL Concert for Schools' at AOL Keyword: Concert for Schools. The broadcast builds upon the success of AOL's BroadBAND Rocks!(tm) feature, which has broadcast live performances by the Foo Fighters, Lou Reed, Staind, Limp Bizkit and Michelle Branch. Live audio and other features will be available to AOL narrowband members, as well as to fans on the web at www.aol.com. Live Broadcast and Pre-Show Coverage to Star Band, Special Guests and the AOL for Broadband Community The live online broadcast kicks off at 6:30PM ET with pre-show coverage hosted by Rick Adams, the DJ of AOL's Radio KOL program on AOL's forthcoming KOL kids channel. The pre-show will also feature footage from AOL Music's popular Sessions@AOL program. Because the "AOL Concert for Schools" is dedicated to public education, the National Anthem will be sung by the accomplished Chamber Singers from Queens' Frank Sinatra High School for the Arts under the direction of Choral Director Heidi Best. Dave Matthews Band, one of the most popular touring bands of all time, will then take the stage for this once-in-a-lifetime event. All AOL members experiencing the event online will be able to chat with other fans around the globe, offer scrolling "shoutouts" and post "backstage blogs" throughout the broadcast. All fans will be able to enjoy the concert video on demand for seven days after the concert from AOL or www.aol.com. Bonus features available following the live broadcast include the ability to watch selected groups of songs from the show and view a photo documentary of the event. "AOL Concert for Schools" Will Bring at Least $1 Million to NYC Public Schools "Dave Matthews in Central Park - The AOL Concert for Schools" was announced at a press conference on September 12. The free, ticketed event will benefit the New York City Department of Education's Fund for Public Schools, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that raises support for New York City's public schools. America Online has committed a minimum of $1 million to the Fund for Public Schools, which will be targeted toward music education programs in the city's schools.
