Steve Harvey Back In Business With The WB
January 11, 2003

Award Winning Comedian To Host An Unscripted Variety/Talk Show Where He Will Interact With Some Of The Most Interesting People You've Ever Seen

Hollywood, CA - Award-winning comedian and Los Angeles' #1-rated English-speaking morning drive-time radio host (KKBT-FM) Steve Harvey will produce and star in an unscripted primetime variety/talk show for The WB, it was announced today at the Television Critics Association Winter Press tour by Jordan Levin, President, Entertainment of The WB.

The show will include elements of the classic talk show sans celebrity interviews, focusing on every-day people with extraordinary and humorous gifts. It will showcase Harvey's stand-up comedy talent, his lightning-quick wit and ability to engage, regular folks and highlight their unique talents. The show will include many children, along with adults.

"Steve has proven himself in multiple mediums to have an unparalleled comic presence," Mr. Levin said. "He has the ability to play off non-celebrities in a way that a lesser comedian couldn't without fear of being upstaged. Since Johnny Carson left the air, no one has taken advantage of the comic potential of every-day people, which we think will offer a refreshing alternative to the predominance of celebrity-driven talk shows."

Harvey, one of "The Original Kings of Comedy," is best known to The WB's audience from "The Steve Harvey Show," which aired on the network for six seasons, during two of which it was the network's highest-rated comedy. He was also the long-time host of the syndicated "Showtime at the Apollo," which was often a talent contest for unusual human acts.

"There are a lot of people of all ages in this country who can do incredible things and that's missing from television," Mr. Harvey said. "All you need to know is how to get their stories out of them. If you can do that, viewers will be amazed at what they'll be watching."
