David Bohrman Joins CNN as Senior Executive Producer Of Flagship Primetime Newscast David Bohrman, an award-winning producer and veteran news executive, is joining CNN as senior executive producer of the network's new flagship evening newscast, it was announced today by Sid Bedingfield, executive vice president and general manager of CNN/U.S. Bohrman will work closely with Bedingfield and Aaron Brown, the anchor and managing editor, to develop a program that showcases an original combination of enterprise reporting and storytelling as well as CNN's stable of national and international correspondents. The program will be based in New York City and will debut this fall.
"David has helped develop some of the most innovative and creative news programs of the past 20 years," Bedingfield said. "As we design a newscast to report stories that are original and alive and that reflect CNN's credibility, I know Aaron and David are the perfect team to launch a standout program." "David was my first, second and third choice to produce this program," said Brown. "Ten years ago, we created World News Now, and I am thrilled that he is joining me in this new adventureõcreating a newscast where we tell stories that viewers understand and that matter to them and have fun while doing it." Through his 20-year news career Bohrman created such innovative news programs as ABC's first overnight newscast, World News Now anchored by Aaron Brown and MSNBC's The Site and Imus in the Morning. Bohrman previously served as executive vice president of CNNfn, where he oversaw all day-to-day operations and production of the network's business programming. He joined CNN in 1998 as executive in charge of Moneyline News Hour. In this capacity, he was responsible for expanding the program to an hour-long format. Bohrman previously was executive producer of NBC News' Specials and Special Events from 1993-1997 where he oversaw all coverage of breaking news and events. Earlier in his career, Bohrman spent 13 years at ABC News. Bohrman joined ABC in 1980 as part of Nightline's original production team and then served as senior producer in New York. For most of the 1980's he served as the senior producer for ABC specials, special events and programs including World News Tonight, coverage of the Persian Gulf War and national political conventions. From 1991-1993, he was executive producer of World News Now, the overnight news program he developed with Aaron Brown. Bohrman continued his role as executive producer with World News Now while also overseeing World News This Morning and Good Morning America News in 1992. He was also a principal creator and executive producer of ABC News Interactive unit from 1988-1991. Most recently, Bohrman was the CEO of Pseudo, an interactive media company based in New York, during which time he was acknowledged by Silicon Alley Reporter as one of the top "100 most influential people in new media in New York." In the last year, he also consulted for Tech TV and other television networks.
