KURSON NAMED EDITOR-AT-LARGE AT MONEY MAGAZINE
January 16, 2001

NEW YORK, NY—Robert Safian, the Managing Editor of Money Magazine, announced today that Ken Kurson—the founder of Green Magazine, who has been profiled by The Industry Standard as "the Martha Stewart of personal finance" and by The New York Times as "the financial mentor for the Limp Bizkit set"—has joined the staff as an Editor-at-Large. "Ken is an extraordinary and unique talent," says Safian. "He knows how to make personal finance sexy, and will be a great addition to our team."

Kurson, 32, has amassed an astonishing list of accomplishments. He penned the cover story for the Forbes 400 issue this past fall, and has written freelance for outlets including Spin, The Source, Rolling Stone, The New York Times Magazine, Yahoo Internet Life, Civilization, Salon and Slate. He was named to TJFR's prestigious "30-Under-30" list of business journalists in both 1996 and 1997, and his 1998 book The Green Guide to Personal Finance, was on Amazon.com's business bestseller list for more than a year.

Kurson also does a monthly commentary for NPR's Marketplace and is a weekly guest on both AOL's popular Odeon chat and on Yahoo Finance, broadcasting live from the Nasdaq in Times Square. He has appeared hundreds of times on television and radio, including dozens of appearances each on CNN, FOX, FoxNews, CNBC, CNNFN, MSNBC, ABC and Bloomberg. Kurson is also a regular columnist for Esquire.

"I'm over the moon about coming to Money," says Kurson, who will be writing a wide variety of stories for the magazine as well as the Money.com website, and also representing Money in multiple media outlets. "I know how lame this sounds, but Money is the magazine that first made me understand how personal finance and investing were the best way for a writer to connect with people. And watching the turnaround at the magazine, the way it's getting better with every issue, is exciting."

Before becoming a journalist, Kurson played bass in the Chicago-based rock band Green for four years, putting out two CDs and performing all over the world. He now lives with his wife Rebecca in Montclair, New Jersey, right down the street from where Tony was shot at the end of Season 1 of the Sopranos.

Money Magazine, with a circulation of 1.9 million, is the nation's largest financial management publication. It is part of Time Inc's Personal Finance Media Group, which also includes Money.com, and Mutual Funds magazine.
