Kathy Busby Joins New Line Cinema as Senior VP of Production LOS ANGELES – Former Carsey-Werner Senior Vice President and development chief Kathy Busby has joined New Line Cinema as a Senior Vice President of Production, it was announced by Toby Emmerich, New Line’s president of production. During her six-year tenure at Carsey-Werner, Busby developed such television series as Whoopi, The Tracy Morgan Show, Game Over and Grounded For Life. She also wrote and directed the short film My Purple Fur Coat, which has screened in more than ten film festivals and won a prize for Best Children’s Short at the Houston Black Film Festival. Busby recently wrapped her second short film, End of Discussion. "Kathy's background in television and music has given her a unique creative perspective that's well-suited for New Line and we are excited to have her join our production team," says Emmerich. Prior to working at Carsey-Werner, Busby served as Vice President of Comedy Development for Universal Television. Her career began in the music industry as an executive at LaFace Records, Paisley Park Records and MCA Records in London.
