Sam Howe Appointed Time Warner Cable Chief Marketing Officer

STAMFORD, CT – Time Warner Cable today announced the appointment of Sam Howe to the position of Chief Marketing Officer. Howe had been serving as the Company’s Senior Vice President of Marketing for Voice Services since August 2003.

As Chief Marketing Officer, Howe will merge the marketing functions for video, Road Runner and Digital Phone. Howe will further develop and manage the company’s brand architecture and campaign creation, oversee the retail marketing channels, and direct consumer research, modeling and analysis. Additionally, Howe will create and chair the Company’s marketing council consisting of the regional marketing heads. The council will coordinate marketing across the company delivering consistent, targeted messaging.

“Sam’s industry experience and proven track record of success will help the Company better communicate the advantages of Time Warner Cable products and services as we strive to execute cohesive, smart marketing initiatives,” said Time Warner Cable Chairman and CEO Glenn Britt. “Today, consumers have come to expect a seamless experience across product lines. Accordingly, Sam will now oversee the marketing of video, Road Runner and Digital Phone.”

While heading up the marketing for Time Warner Cable Digital Phone, Howe helped consumers understand the distinct advantages of the company’s residential phone service making it a very successful product. Since its launch in May 2003, more than 500,000 consumers have signed up for Digital Phone which continue to grow at a rate of more than 15,000 new customers a week.

Prior to joining Time Warner Cable, Howe started his own company -- Howe Strategic -- in 2001. The company provided marketing, planning and business development consultation to companies in the media industry, including Time Warner Cable during the early stages of marketing Digital Phone. From 1999-2001, Howe was Executive Vice President of eTour Inc., an online service that matched websites with users declared interests. He held the position of Senior Vice President of Network Sales for Turner Broadcasting, Inc. in Atlanta, GA from 1998-1999. Howe gained experience in the Telephone and Internet industries from 1993-1998 in the United Kingdom working for TeleWest plc, a leading telecommunications company and SBC Cablecomms, Inc. a 50/50 partnership between Cox Communications and Southwestern Bell Inc.

Howe also spent nine years at Cox Communications, Inc. where he held various positions in finance and marketing. Howe began working in the cable industry in 1982, when he joined Centel Cable, a division of Centel Corporation, as Staff Manager in Chicago, IL. He began his career in radio, where he held positions with WEEI-AM in Boston and WBSM-AM in New Bedford, MA.

Howe earned a B.A. in History from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME in 1977 and a MBA in Marketing and Finance from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern College in Evanston, IL in 1982. He currently resides in Westport, CT with his wife and two daughters.
