Employee Volunteerism

Time Warner has a long tradition of employee volunteerism. Our goal is to make a difference in the community by strategically leveraging the diverse skills of our talented workforce and encouraging the deep and meaningful involvement of our employees.

As part of this effort, we work with community partners to design employee-based volunteer programs that have a significant, lasting and positive impact on employees and the communities in which they live and work.

Among the volunteer opportunities offered to employees are:

Strengthening Communities through Long Term Commitment:

Pro-Bono Consulting Initiative
As one of the company’s flagship programs, this innovative model for employee engagement in the community uses pro bono consulting work as the basis for making a meaningful contribution in the communities where many of our employees live and work. Teams of employees volunteer their business services to oversee projects in the areas of branding, database development, brochure design, annual report creation and human resources management to nonprofit organizations in the New York City area.

Nonprofit Board Training
The Nonprofit Board Training program is a unique program designed by Time Warner to leverage the skills of our company’s leaders to make a significant contribution in the nonprofit community. Volunteers who participate in this training learn about the care, loyalty and stewardship needed to perform effective nonprofit board service and then are matched with a nonprofit to serve its board.

Principal for a Day
Time Warner executives are active participants in PENCIL’s Principal For A Day (PFAD) program, which annually mobilizes private sector leaders to experience a day in the life of a New York City public school principal. Time Warner participants develop lasting partnerships with their Department of Education principals, helping them serve New York City’s students.

Strengthening Communities through Days of Service:

Holiday Giving Initiative
NYC-based Time Warner employees from across the Time Warner divisions participate in the annual Holiday Giving initiative. Dear Santa letters from local NYC children are distributed to employees who then purchase gifts for the children and their families. Time Warner employees respond to hundreds of letters each year.

JobTalk and Job Shadowing Days
Public high school students across the country participate in job shadowing and mentoring days hosted by Time Warner businesses. Students discuss college and career opportunities with Time Warner employees in an organized forum. Employee volunteers help the students explore their college and career interests by talking about their own experiences.

London Volunteer Day
London employees from across Time Warner’s divisions volunteer together during this annual day of service to make a difference in the local London community.

New York Cares Day
New York Cares Day is a citywide effort to recruit volunteers to revitalize NYC’s public schools. Each fall, Time Warner employees form teams in every borough and volunteer to help refurbish NYC schools.

Turner Volunteer Day
TVDay is a Turner-wide celebration of community service. Turner employees and families at locations across the country spend the day volunteering in their local communities.

Warner Bros. Volunteer Corps.
The Warner Bros. Volunteer Corps. is active in the greater Los Angeles community. Employee initiative activities range from environmental initiatives to hospice care.
