Broadening Public Access

Time Warner is committed to broadening public access to the arts in New York City. From sponsorship of public performances to underwriting ticket prices to make the arts affordable to more people, Time Warner helps bring the enriching experience of the performing arts to diverse audiences throughout the five boroughs. Below are some examples of programs supported by Time Warner in 2007.

City Parks Foundation – CityParks Theater

In 2006, Time Warner collaborated with the City Parks Foundation to present CityParks Theater, which offers free performances presented by community-based theaters in Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem and Von King Park in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. In 2007, City Parks Theater expanded to offer free theater performances in Tompkins Square Park on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts – Midsummer Night Swing

Time Warner is the lead corporate sponsor of Midsummer Night’s Swing, which brings a month of diverse music each summer to the plaza at New York’s Lincoln Center, attracting thousands of listeners and dancers each night.

NY City Center – Fall For Dance

Time Warner has been the principal corporate sponsor of Fall for Dance since 2004, the program’s inaugural year. A week-long festival that brings a vibrant, diverse and eclectic mix of 30 local, national and international dance companies to the City Center stage – Fall for Dance makes dance performances available to a wide and diverse audience. All tickets for all performances are $10. More than 30% of the audiences at Fall for Dance over the past two years had never been to a dance performance before.

Signature Theatre Company – The Signature Ticket Initiative

With Time Warner support, The Signature Theatre Company celebrated its 15th anniversary season by offering every seat at every show for $15, making popular theatre accessible to a broad and new audience. As a result, 37% of the audience were from diverse backgrounds and 50% were new buyers. Time Warner and Signature recently announced $20 through 20, an extension of this program which makes discounted tickets available for the next four years.
