![]() Engaging Youth The arts serve as a remarkable tool for engaging youth in learning, empowering them to grow as individuals, and providing them with opportunities for self-expression. Time Warner helps make opportunities available to youth through grants to innovative after-school programs and partnerships with NYC cultural institutions. The following is a list of organizations supported by Time Warner in 2007.
Through the Youth Media and Arts Fund, Time Warner supports high-quality NYC-based after-school programs that engage youth in a variety of arts disciplines – from visual arts to performing arts to filmmaking. These programs work with teens to give them both the opportunity to develop and express their voices while using the arts to help them acquire learning skills that prepare them for success in school, life and work.
City at Peace-New York

CP-NY engages a diverse group of teenagers in a yearlong, youth-led program where participants create a full-length original musical theater production about their lives and ideas for change. Time Warner is supporting CP-NY to provide more performance opportunities for the youth and to give greater visibility to the program.
The CityKids Foundation

The CityKids Repertory Company is a nationally-acclaimed youth performing arts company that performs original, issue-based drama, music, song and dance productions. Time Warner is supporting CityKids to track retention of participants, to evaluate academic performance, to measure artistic progress, to increase performance opportunities and to raise visibility of youth-produced work.
Downtown Community Television Center

Time Warner supports DCTV's PRO-TV, a filmmaking program for underserved teens that provides mentorship, technical and professional training and critical thinking and decision-making skills. Support from Time Warner will increase the sustainability of PRO-TV programs and increase the number of students served.
Educational Video Center

EVC teaches documentary video production and media analysis to youth, educators and community organizers. Time Warner supports EVC's Documenatry Workshop, the foundation of its youth programming, and YO-TV, a pre-professional paid internship for graduates of the Advanced Doc Workshop. With Time Warner support, EVC is implementing an evaluation plan for Doc Workshop and YO-TV and revising the YO-TV curriculum to include college preparation and career development.
Ghetto Film School

Time Warner supports the Ghetto Film School Fellows Program, which provides pre-professional training for emerging filmmakers. Ghetto Film School is enhancing the program by creating a filmmaker in residence program; providing college and financial aid application assistance; and internship preparation, placement and evaluation.
Global Action Project

GAP's Urban Voices Program is an after-school video production program that provides youth with leadership training, media analysis and advanced media tools. Time Warner is supporting GAP to implement a core curriculum, to increase artist-educators trainings, to develop college awareness services, to create a communications strategy and to evaluate the long-term impact on participants.
High 5 Tickets to the Arts

High 5's Teen Reviewers and Critics (TRaC) Program gives students broad exposure to the arts and teaches them the basics of review writing. TRaC includes writing programs that cover theater, music and dance. With Time Warner support, High 5's TRaC programs will increase student outreach, number of programs, evaluation and visibility of student work.
NY Writers Coalition

NYWC provides innovative creative writing programs to at-risk and economically disadvantaged youth. With Time Warner support, NYWC is increasing its number of workshop sites, conduct public readings featuring NYWC participants and develop a workshop leaders apprenticeship.
The Point Community Development Corporation

Time Warner supports the ICP at The Point program, a partnership program with the International Center for Photography that provides teens in the Bronx with training in photography and includes mentoring and career development activities.
Queens Council on the Arts

Time Warner supports QCA's High School to Art School initiative, a program that provides economically disadvantaged and diverse high school juniors and seniors with high quality training in the visual arts. With Time Warner support, QCA will provide young artists assistance with portfolio development, mentors, internship placements at cultural institutions and financial planning for college sessions with parents.
Reel Works Teen Filmmaking

Reel Works is a free after-school filmmaking program in Brooklyn. With support from Time Warner, Reel Works is expanding its free programming into the summer, strengthening its mentorship component, extending assessment measures to include all of its core programs, improving student recruitment and retention, and providing college prep and professional development to its students.
Urban Word NYC

Urban Word provides free after-school programs in spoken word poetry and creative writing. With Time Warner support, Urban Word is extending its reach to more students by creating a satellite program in Brooklyn.
WNYC Radio

Time Warner supports WNYC's Radio Rookies program. Working with radio professionals, teens learn to use media to report on stories and issues that affect their lives and their communities. With Time Warner support, Radio Rookies will develop and pilot a curriculum in New York City schools based on its program, as well as raise the visibility of the program through a public awareness campaign.

Youth Communication trains public high school students to write and illustrate two magazines that cover a wide range of topics important to teens. Time Warner is supporting Youth Communication to help teens improve their writing, illustration, speaking and presentation skills.
