The continuing strong performance of Turner's core cable television networks is powering growth across the portfolio. In 2009 TBS and TNT were top two ad-supported cable networks by reach in key demographic of adults, 18 to 49. Combined TBS, TNT and truTV reach ranks third behind NBC and ABC; and recent repositioning of truTV resulted in highest primetime viewing in target demographics in 18-year history. And Adult Swim attracts more males18 to 34 than any late-night talk show.
In its fifth season on TNT, The Closer remains the #1 original series on ad-supported cable of all time, and three TNT freshman series, Men of a Certain Age, Leverage and HawthoRNe, ranked among the Top 5 new series for the year in total viewers. TBS claims four of the top five comedies for the year-to-date among adults 25-54 on ad-supported cable with Meet the Browns, Family Guy, The Office and Tyler Perry's House of Payne.
CNN is the leading cable news network in reach, with an average of 69 million viewers monthly in 2009. For the year, CNN.com remained the #1 news and information site on the web, CNN Political Ticker was the #1 political news blog and CNN Mobile was the #1 mobile news provider. Internationally, CNN is distributed to over 2 billion homes outside the U.S. According to the latest survey of the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, CNN remains the most trusted news organization in the United States, a distinction it has held for more than a decade.
