Turner also manages its own websites and digital brand extensions, including CNN.com, CNN Mobile, CNNMoney.com, TCM.com and CartoonNetwork.com, as well as those for the NBA, MLB, PGA and NASCAR. Turner is well positioned both in the U.S. and internationally, with its core cable television networks continuing to drive growth across the division's entire portfolio of brands and outlets. As of the end of the first quarter of 2010, three of ad-supported cable's top 10 networks in primetime delivery of adults 18-49 and 25-54 were Turner networks - TNT, TBS and truTV - while Adult Swim attracted more men 18-34 than any late-night talk show. Internationally, Turner is growing scale with a broad portfolio of networks, expanding beyond the news and kids categories and developing strong new networks in key international locations, especially Latin America and India. Collectively, the Turner brands and businesses reach consumers in over 200 countries around the world. TBS is television's "very funny" network, serving as home to contemporary comedies, such as Family Guy, The Office and Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns, which was the #1 scripted series on all of television in delivery of African-American adults 18-49 as of the end of the first quarter of 2010. Conan O'Brien will join TBS to host a late-night talk show that is expected to debut in November 2010 at 11 p.m. (ET/PT). The Emmy Award-winning comedian's new program will be followed by the hit Lopez Tonight, which will shift to a midnight time slot, giving TBS a dynamic lineup in late-night television. TNT focuses on drama. The Closer remains the #1 original series of all time on ad-supported cable. TNT's three nights of original programming continues to drive strong ratings. In its debut season this year, TNT's Men of a Certain Age was among ad-supported cable's top 10 new original series, while Leverage ranked among the top 5 returning series. At Cartoon Network, live-action/CG-animated movies like Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins are setting viewership records, especially with boys, and are strong companions to original series hits including Destroy Build Destroy; Dude, What Would Happen; and new live-action and animated series. Turner Sports produces award-winning NBA, MLB, NASCAR and PGA programming and content for Turner linear and digital networks. Turner Sports' 2009-2010 NBA regular season coverage on TNT was the most-watched season on cable since 1995-1996 and its third straight year of growth in households and total viewers. In April 2010, Turner Broadcasting announced that it acquired, with CBS, the exclusive U.S. television, Internet and wireless rights to present the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship tournament from 2011 through 2024. The agreement marks the first time that the Final Four and National Championship games will be televised live on a cable network. The games will be shown nationally on TBS, TNT and truTV, as well as CBS. truTV closed 2009, the second year of its rebranding, with the strongest ratings in the network's 18-year history, including the years when it was known as Court TV. The network's performance was driven by a slate of new series that included Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura, Full Throttle Saloon, All Worked Up and It Only Hurts When I Laugh and returning series that included Operation Repo, Black Gold and Rehab: Party at the Hard Rock Hotel. CNN, the original 24-hour news network on cable, continues to invest in newsgathering to deliver the most comprehensive, nonpartisan news and analysis to global audiences across all platforms. CNN reaches more viewers than any other cable news network. Online, as of the end of the first quarter of 2010, CNN Digital Network ranked #1 in current events and global news across all key metrics. CNN was also ranked the #1 mobile news provider as of the end of the first quarter of 2010. CNN's journalistic excellence continues to be recognized with prestigious industry awards. Among other honors received in 2010 are the George Polk Award for international reporting; the Hillman Foundation's January Sidney Award for coverage of the Haiti earthquake devastation; and four Gracie Awards from the American Women in Radio & Television. HLN, the news and views network, driven by the success of programs such as Morning Express with Robin Meade, Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell, Nancy Grace, The Joy Behar Show and Showbiz Tonight, posted its best deliveries ever among total viewers and the 25-54 demographic in both total day and primetime in 2009. HLN also had the most ratings growth of any cable news network during primetime among total viewers (both Monday to Sunday and Monday to Friday) in 2009. ![]()
