This summer, Girls Who Code are coming to Warner Bros. Technology (WBT) in Burbank, CA. Through a new partnership, twenty young women will spend June and July at WBT learning about technology through the Girls Who Code (GWC) Summer Immersion program.
Now in its fifth year, the Summer Immersion Program is GWC’s signature effort to address the gender gap in technology. Over seven intensive weeks, tenth- and eleventh-grade girls will receive technology instruction and interactive demonstrations focused on games engineering; information security and content protection; web design; post-production, and content distribution. Participants will also connect with females in tech fields through mentoring events.
WBT’s collaboration with Girls Who Code is an expansion of its community outreach and diversity and inclusion efforts. It's part of a broader effort among Time Warner companies to cultivate diversity and invest in communities; this summer Turner is also hosting a group of young women in the GWC Immersion Program at its Techwood campus.
