Adam West—the legendary star of the classic 1960s Batman TV series who passed away last Friday at age 88—will get a fitting tribute from the City of Los Angeles this evening.

In remembrance of West’s portrayal of the “Bright Knight,” Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Chief Charlie Beck will join surprise guests and fans for a ceremonial lighting of the Bat-signal, which will be projected onto the tower of Los Angeles City Hall. Bat-fans are encouraged to attend in their finest Bat-suits and utility belts in honor of West.

The event begins this evening at 9 p.m. PDT at the Los Angeles City Hall's Spring Street Steps.

Fans unable to join tonight’s LA tribute are encouraged to donate to the Adam West Memorial Fund for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Camp Rainbow Gold, a charity that supports children diagnosed with cancer and their families.
