Turner, Warner Bros. and HBO are among the winners of the 2017 Webby Awards. The awards recognize excellence in six major media types: websites; film and video; advertising, media and PR; social; mobile sites and apps; and podcasts and digital audio.

Turner

CNN political commentator Van Jones received this year’s Special Achievement Award for his use of the internet and social media during the 2016 election, including his video series The Messy Truth. Read more about the award here.

The Messy Truth—which airs on CNN—received a Webby in the News & Politics: Series category. This award recognizes original online content, as a serial or show, documenting informational news topics, political happenings and recent updates and headlines.  

CNN also picked up the Best Social, Events prize for CNN Election Night 2016, for its social media accounts created or executed on behalf of an organization/institution or brand devoted to promoting and generating engagement around events and/or to promoting and hosting live events online.

Rounding out the honors for the Turner family was a Best Film & Video, Video Remixes/Mashups nod for the Kendrick Lamar/Swimming Pools (Drank) Rick and Morty Mashup, which aired on Adult Swim. Check out that one for yourself below:

The Ellen DeGeneres Show from Warner Bros. Telepictures won the Social―Celebrity/Fan category.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them—the latest entry into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World— received two People’s Voice awards:

  • Social―Best Use of Video category for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Snapchat.
  • Online Film & Video―VR: Gaming, Interactive or Real-time (Branded) for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them VR.

When it comes to HBO, the people have spoken. HBO NOW won the Webby and People’s Voice Award for Best User Experience: Mobile Sites & Apps.

And Game of Thrones continues to receive accolades, with People’s Voice Awards in three categories:

  • Best Overall Social Presence
  • Advertising, Media & PR: Best Event: Art the Throne
  • Online Film & Video/Unscripted (branded): Battle of the Bastards Featurette

Presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences since 1996, the Webbys have become the “internet’s highest honor,” according to the New York Times.
