If last year’s DC Rebirth blockbuster blew your mind, may we offer you this: Dark Nights: Metal.
At Fan Expo Dallas last weekend, DC publisher Dan Didio announced that bestselling Batman writer and artist duo Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo are collaborating on the new title, debuting in August.
According to Snyder, Metal will take readers in a new direction, digging into past stories to find a place of terror and twisted nightmares. Based on Capullo’s cover—Batman emerging from a blast with a tattered cape and clutching two bloodied battle axes—that’s not difficult to imagine.
But Snyder also promises some levity for the title. “Even with terror and nightmares, it won’t be grim. Dark Nights: Metal will be celebratory, huge and crazy. I’ve said it before: I am going for out-of-control dinosaurs and lasers.”
