Turner Classic Movies was recognized today at CinemaCon for its success in bringing landmark films to theatergoers with their Big Screen Classics Series. TCM host Ben Mankiewicz accepted “The CinemaCon Excellence in Event Cinema Award” at this annual convention of motion picture professionals in Las Vegas.

Turner Classic Movies launched Big Screen Classics in 2009, in partnership with Fathom Events, as a way to give audiences the chance to enjoy classic films the way they were meant to be seen—on the big screen. The series has grown in popularity over the years, and what began as a few screenings per year has grown into a monthly event at hundreds of theaters nationwide. Each screening features exclusive commentary from one of TCM’s hosts.

In April, Big Screen Classics brings Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller North by Northwest to theaters, plus a special 50th anniversary event for The Graduate, the groundbreaking film starring Anne Bancroft and Dustin Hoffman in his screen debut.
