Life doesn’t always go according to plan, especially for Joe Coughlin (played by Ben Affleck), a World War I vet and son of a Boston Police bigwig. Despite his background, Joe is a self-proclaimed anti-establishment outlaw, and ends up a gun-slinging rum runner in Florida during Prohibition. But Joe’s not all bad, and unlike the other gangsters in his midst, he has an open heart and sense of justice, which may be his undoing.
Live By Night is Affleck's directorial follow up to Argo, the 2012 Academy Award winner for Best Picture. It is based on the best-selling Dennis Lehane novel, which Affleck also adapted for the screen. The dramatic crime thriller—which marks the second collaboration between the two Boston natives—arrives in theaters everywhere January 13.
