Last spring, we told you about FilmStruck, the streaming film library service from Turner Classic Movies and The Criterion Collection.  This week, it was announced that FilmStruck will launch on October 19, giving cinephiles everywhere access to the world's largest streaming library of contemporary and classic arthouse, indie, foreign and cult films. Beginning November 11, FilmStruck will also become the exclusive streaming home of The Criterion Collection.

Fans can sign up for a subscription at www.filmstruck.com, which offers three different pricing tiers:

  • FilmStruck  – $6.99/month - hundreds of constantly refreshed, hard-to-find and critically acclaimed films, plus exclusive bonus content including hosted introductions, originally produced pieces, interviews and rare footage
  • FilmStruck + The Criterion Channel Subscription – $10.99/month - offering everything in the FilmStruck subscription plus unlimited access  to The Criterion Collection library of films and special features 
  • Annual Subscription – $99/year for FilmStruck + The Criterion Channel (a $30 annual savings)

Among the hundreds of critically acclaimed and award-winning titles that will be featured on FilmStruck are Blood Simple, Blow-Up, A Hard Day's NightMad MaxMetropolis, Moulin Rouge, My Life as a Dog, Paths of Glory, The Player, A Room with a View, Seven Samurai, The Seventh Seal, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Woodstock.

On Thursday, Turner hosted a launch event at 404, located at Hudson Yards in New York City. Executives from Turner, TCM and The Criterion Collection joined members of the press, influencers and tastemakers in the film community, as well as celebrities such as Rose McGowan and George Romero.
