On Wednesday, the Time Warner Investments group held its 13th Annual Portfolio Day, an internal event at which Time Warner Investments portfolio companies present to executives from Warner Bros., HBO, Turner and Time Warner Corporate. The event is an opportunity for Time Warner divisions to evaluate and assess the latest products and technologies from mid-stage companies, and identify opportunities to enhance current business offerings.
Portfolio companies are selected based on specific strategic and financial criteria, including the company’s ability to demonstrate near-term partnership potential, feasibility of its business model and technology, quality of the management team, and attractive financial return potential. Over the years, a number of portfolio companies have established operational partnerships with Time Warner divisions that have led to innovative products and campaigns.
Rachel Lam, Senior Vice President and Group Managing Director of Time Warner Investments, welcomed attendees to this year's event with a particular focus on companies working on augmented and virtual reality applications, as well as over-the-top video streaming technologies. Following Lam's kickoff, executives from portfolio companies such as Mashable, Outpost Games, You.i, NextVR and Samba TV delivered a range of presentations and demonstrations.
