Scholars of Pottermore got a summer reading assignment today, as the Wizarding World unveiled new writing from J.K. Rowling that will have Harry Potter fans the world over clamoring to go back to school.

Titled Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the second installment of Magic in North America continues to set the stage for the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Rowling's magical world comes stateside in the new adventure, and while we won't spoil it here, it goes a long way toward explaining how the magic of Hogwarts made its way across the Atlantic -- and just how long ago it took root in American soil.

In addition to publishing Rowling's latest, Pottermore also launched a new "sort" of feature sure to delight the diehards: Visitors can now answer questions written by Rowling herself as part of the Ilvermorny Sorting ceremony, to determine which of the four school houses is the best fit.

It's unlikely that Harry Potter fans have ever been so excited to do their homework. Get ready to head back to school early with the new short video below.
