On Friday, Cartoon Network announced the return of its fifth annual Move It Movement Tour, which is presented in partnership with the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition and in support of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative. Visiting 19 major markets, the tour launches officially May 23-25 in Atlanta at the Atlanta Jazz Festival in Piedmont Park and travels across the country to prime family locations, co-sponsored by Cartoon Network’s local cable affiliates in each market. Traveling from coast to coast, the tour will ultimately make its way back to the gulf coast for its concluding presentation at LEGOLAND® Florida.
A themed, exciting and fun outdoor environment, the Move It Movement Tour features multiple activity and learning stations for kids, incorporating such core partner organizations as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, NBA/WNBA FIT & NBA Hoop Troop, NFL PLAY 60 and The PGA of America.
"Cartoon Network has a deep commitment to helping kids live a more balanced and healthy lifestyle, and we’ve enlisted our many partners along with their resources to help families explore more fun and unique ways to realize this goal," said Alice Cahn, vice president of social responsibility for Cartoon Network. "This annual summer event provides a creative and engaging opportunity for families to get active. It also allows kids a chance to test their skills at a variety of athletic challenges, which can hopefully help springboard them into more formal activities in the future. And parents can pick up any number of educational materials to help them find ways of integrating more physical activity into their kids’ daily lives as well as their own."
