Last night, DiversityInc honored Time Warner as the 2013 “Top Company for Talent Development.” Time Warner Chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes accepted the award at a ceremony in New York City (see his acceptance speech in the video below).
The company was recognized for its commitment to ensuring diverse talent through initiatives including divisional Diversity Performance Goals, support for the LGBT community and the company’s Multicultural Innovation Council, which brings together senior executives to help shape Time Warner’s diversity agenda.
“One of the biggest things that sets our company apart is its ability to harness talent—and with that talent, access to the best creative ideas and stories that we help share with the world in television, film, and journalism. That’s why, for us, diversity isn’t just a box we check. It’s in the DNA of our company—having a diverse workforce and management team is directly linked to this business objective: being the preferred home for talent and finding new voices,” Bewkes said.
Retaining and attracting diverse talent is a longstanding strategic priority for Time Warner. The company recently held its second annual Storytellers Summit, which is aimed to ensure that creative executives are thinking about innovative ways to cultivate strong relationships with new and diverse voices.
