This past Monday, The Actors Fund held its annual fundraising gala, raising a record-breaking $1.4 million at an evening in which it honored HBO with its Medal of Honor. Actor Robert De Niro and film producer Steve Kalafer were also honored.

“The Actors Fund performs the most noble of all charitable work—helping those who are most vulnerable because fate or misfortune have put them in harm’s way, and but for the grace of God, could be any of us," said HBO CEO Richard Plepler in accepting the award, "What a blessing The Actors Fund provides in bringing respite and safety to their lives.”
