Last night at the Time Warner Center in New York City, Shane Smith, co-founder of VICE magazine, joined colleagues, special guests and HBO executives for the series premiere of the network’s eponymous news show. An irreverent take on a television news magazine, VICE covers unconventional news stories unabashedly in documentary format.

“These guys take their work seriously, and they’re courageous as hell,” HBO CEO Richard Plepler told the New York Times, speaking about VICE's adventurous reporters.
