Warner Bros. Entertainment and MGM Studios announced today that they have invested in the San Francisco-based gaming company Kabam. The companies previously joined forces for the greater gaming good, releasing The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth mobile game earlier this year, but this new investment sees Warner Bros. Home Entertainment President Kevin Tsujihara joining Kabam's Board of Directors.

Kabam is known for its social and mobile immersive games where players can connect in real-time to strategize and build alliances. Warner and Kabam are already developing The Hobbit: Armies of the Third Age for release early next year, which will be perfect timing for fans who will have just seen the big screen version of the epic – in theatres December 14 – for the 37th time.
